The 91-year-old Equal Rights Amendment is alive and kicking, according to an organization dedicated to making the ERA part of the U.S. Constitution. RATIFY ERA-NC is sponsoring a statewide event on Saturday, August 2 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the NC Advocates for Justice Center, 1312 Annapolis Drive in Raleigh. Participants will hear a keynote address by former Senator Ellie Kinnaird, a talk by 12-year-old activist Madison Kimrey, and presentations by Nancy Glowacki and Roberta Madden, RATIFY ERA-NC co-directors.

Admission is free, but lunch will be available at $5 per person, according to event chairperson Varnell Kinnin of Business and Professional Women of North Carolina. The afternoon session offers interactive workshops on digital organizing, grassroots lobbying, and writing guest editorials and letters to the editor.

Seating is limited, and advance registration is required by July 26. To register, send name, address (including email address), and phone number to Michelle Evans, 1744 Cobblestone Drive, Creedmoor, NC 27522. If lunch is desired, include $5, payable to RATIFY ERA-NC. For more information, call Roberta Madden at 225-315-0303.
